Come Alive (Dry Bones) – featuring Lauren Daigle – English Christian Song

With the slow melody, this song gently described the status quo of many Christians as well as the calling out to God from the bottom of our hearts. The song was written by Lauren for many prodigals who had heard the Lord’s words and His calling, yet stepped away from the Lord, just because of the temptation of the world. Lauren felt sorry about that, and then started to sing the song with Michael. She was reminded of the passage in Ezekiel 37. It talks that God was leading Ezekiel to the Valley, and told him to prophesy to the dry bones that they would come alive to be a large army of God, when God put the breath of life into them. Lauren and Michael felt the authority and power of God’s words from the verses, as well as the rise of the God’s army which is very encouraging and inspiring, Thus, they wrote the song.

After listening to the song, I was also encouraged a lot. Most of us, the Christians who live in the last days, all feel it’s hard to maintain the faith in God, especially when something unpleasant befalls us, we become negative and retreat easily. Even when we pray and call out to God, we find it difficult to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. Like Lauren’s friend, there’re many people around us having turned their back on God, and gone for the dazzling world, following its trend. Even those who stay in the church, the state of them is slipping downward. Therefore many people are seeking the reason why the state of believers become like this. It made me think of that during the time of the Lord Jesus working among man, those who went out the temple and followed the Lord Jesus, and accepted the work of the Lord Jesus kept up with God’s new work. For example, Peter was growing gradually in his life, faith, and his love, and loyalty for God under the guidance of the work of the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, those who stayed in the temple and held on to the letters and doctrines of the Bible had lost the presence of the Holy Spirit long ago, living in sins. So that the temple that once was so full of Jehovah God’s glory had turned into a place of trade, a den of thieves.

The desolation of the churches nowadays is very similar to the one of the earliest temple. From this can be seen that it’s the sign of the Holy Spirit’s work having transferred. It says in Amos 4:7 that “And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city: one piece was rained on, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.” And it is written in Amos 8:11 that “The days come, said the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.” And also, as God’s word says, “God will accomplish this fact: He will make all people throughout the universe come before Him, and worship the God on earth, and His work in other places will cease, and people will be forced to seek the true way. It will be like Joseph: Everyone came to him for food, and bowed down to him, for he had things to eat. In order to avoid famine people will be forced to seek the true way. The entire religious community is suffering severe famine, and only the God of today is the wellspring of living water, possessed of the ever-flowing wellspring provided for the enjoyment of man, and people will come and depend on Him.” “but in fact, God’s work in them ceased long ago, and the work of the Holy Spirit is absent from them. The work of God was long since transferred to another group of people, a group on whom He intends to complete His new work. Because those in religion are incapable of accepting God’s new work, and only hold to the old work of the past, thus God has forsaken these people, and does His new work on the people who accept this new work. These are people who cooperate in His new work, and only in this way can His management be accomplished.” From God’s words, we can know that when we see the desolation of churches nowadays, and brothers and sisters’ conditions not being well, it is the right time for us to seek God’s footsteps. Only those who keep pace with the footsteps of God can regain the guidance of the work of the Holy Spirit, and the supply of the living water from God. The Lord Jesus has prophesied, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (John 16:12-13). We can see from the Lord Jesus’ words that when the Lord Jesus comes back, there will be new words for us, with which God will guide us to understand more truth, then our spirits will come alive again just like the song says. And then, the desolation of churches will be solved right away when the day comes. What an exciting moment it will be!

In such a crucial time of welcoming the Lord’s return, may all brothers and sisters could focus on seeking and heeding the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and welcome the Lord Jesus’ second coming!
