This animated short film Khaya has won the Best Student Film at The New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards. It states that a young girl contemplates the direction of her life and breaks the trend of society and greets the light.
This film reflects a status quo: just like the young girl in this short film, many of us feel perplexed about the future. When we enter the society, we become one of those who follow popular trends just as these people without faces in this film. Since we haven’t found the direction of our life, we have to reluctantly go forward following others’ steps. Our parents and teachers put hopes onto us, hoping that we can become their ideal ones, which makes us gradually lose ourselves. Fortunately, the young girl in the film found her goal in life and finally got rid of these bonds. However, we ourselves are not so lucky in real life: Some people grope forward willfully in the world, staggering and tottering to have their day; some live a simple life day after day and rush about without achieving anything; some have clear goals but still can’t avoid being assimilated by the society. …
We have to say that we have our own helplessness. We are often filled with strong emotions about the unfairness of our lot and feel that our talent remains unrecognized. This reminds me of, “If a person’s attitude toward fate is passive, it proves that he or she is resisting everything that God has arranged for him or her, that he or she does not have a submissive attitude. If one’s attitude toward over human fate is active, then when one looks back upon one’s journey, when one truly comes to grips with God’s sovereignty, one will more earnestly desire to submit to everything that God has arranged, will have more of the determination and confidence to let God orchestrate one’s fate, to stop rebelling against God. For one sees that when one does not comprehend fate, when one does not understand God’s sovereignty, when one gropes forward willfully, staggering and tottering, through the fog, the journey is too difficult, too heartbreaking. So when people recognize God’s sovereignty over human fate, the smart ones choose to know it and accept it, to bid farewell to the painful days when they tried to build a good life with their own two hands, instead of continuing to struggle against fate and pursue their so-called life goals in their own manner. When one has no God, when one cannot see Him, when one cannot clearly recognize God’s sovereignty, every day is meaningless, worthless, miserable. Wherever one is, whatever one’s job is, one’s means of living and the pursuit of one’s goals bring one nothing but endless heartbreak and irrelievable suffering, such that one cannot bear to look back. Only when one accepts the Creator’s sovereignty, submits to His orchestrations and arrangements, and seeks true human life, will one gradually break free from all heartbreak and suffering, shake off all the emptiness of life.”
From God’s word, we can see that since we don’t know the meaning of life and God’s sovereignty and arrangements, we often feel confused, painful, uneasy and deeply empty of the course of our life. Yet when we understand that God presides over the fate of us all and He has arranged the most suitable life for us, we will have goals in our life. From this we can see that pursuing the truth, pursuing to know and satisfy God is the most meaningful thing. Every morning when we get up, we thank God for bestowing us a new day, preparing everything for us and thus we have real peace and something to depend upon. So we will feel enriched and perfect in our daily life.
