Someone says life is a dream. When we wake up, we’ll find everything of us is nothing. Someone says life is a drama, which is filled with joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. Someone says life is full of many twists and turns, and people will taste all bitters and sorrows.
For the sake of money and profit, how many people don’t hesitate to sell out their own personality and dignity, squandering their lives desperately? In order to gain fame and fortune, how many people rack their brains and go through great length, yet get exhausted physically and mentally? For children’s future, how many parents run around and work hard until they become gray? … As we have too many extravagant desires, our lives are full of pain and struggle. Many of us don’t know why we exist or where we will go after death, vaguely coming and leaving.
Solomon, the richest king in the world, sighed after he had gained fame and status, “Then I looked on all the works that my hands had worked, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 2:11). Even if we can enjoy endless glory and riches and possess high fame and status all of our lives, we can’t escape the rule of birth, aging, illness, and death.
Life is short, and it will be over in an eyeblink. Actually, it is entirely possible for us to live a colorful and happy life in our short lives—as long as we have the guidance of God. God will lead us to walk out of the predicament when we meet troubles, and He will accompany us so that our lives will no longer be empty. When we are weak, God will make us strong and faithful, for He is the pillar of our lives.
God says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). “Wherever one is, whatever one’s job is, one’s means of living and the pursuit of one’s goals bring one nothing but endless heartbreak and irrelievable suffering, such that one cannot bear to look back. Only when one accepts the Creator’s sovereignty, submits to His orchestrations and arrangements, and seeks true human life, will one gradually break free from all heartbreak and suffering, shake off all the emptiness of life” (“God Himself, the Unique III”). Only when we gain the truth from God and know almighty God who has sovereignty over human fate, will our lives become valuable and significant. Through reading the passage of s “God Himself, the Unique III God’s Authority (II) Part Four”, we will get great benefit from it.
